Our U11 team had barely recovered from last weekend’s trip to Košice before setting off for another invitational international tournament in Slovakia.
At the tournament held in Stropkov and associated with former Sepsi OSK player Pavol Šafranko, teams from Slovakia, Poland and Transylvania competed in a round-robin format. Our young footballers once again rose to the occasion: after 11 matches, they recorded 8 wins and 3 draws, securing second place unbeaten and finishing just one point behind Slovan Bratislava.
The team’s performance was crowned with an individual honour as well: our goalkeeper, Bene Zalán, was named the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper.
“The boys deserve huge credit because over two consecutive weekends they travelled nearly 3,000 kilometres and played a total of 21 matches. In Stropkov, apart from two or three less demanding opponents, we faced physically stronger teams and proved to be equal competitors against youth sides of renowned clubs such as multiple Slovak and Polish champions Slovan Bratislava and Górnik Zabrze,” coach Incze Tibor assessed.
