The traditional U11 tournament of the Carpathian Basin Academy System (KMAR) took place this weekend in Košice, where FK Csíkszereda’s young talents delivered an outstanding performance to claim the gold medal.

The traditional U11 tournament of the Carpathian Basin Academy System (KMAR) took place this weekend in Košice, where FK Csíkszereda’s young talents delivered an outstanding performance to claim the gold medal.

The twelve invited teams were divided into two groups, with a round-robin format, after which the top three teams from each group competed in another round-robin stage to decide the final standings. Our youngsters advanced from the group stage in second place, but were unbeatable in the playoffs: with four wins and one draw, they finished first and won the tournament.

The team’s performance is even more impressive considering that on the second day they played in heavy rain on an unfamiliar grass pitch, yet still showed confident and organized football. The key to success was above-average goalkeeping, disciplined defending, and well-structured attacking play.

“It was a high-level tournament, perfectly organized in every aspect, where we managed to perform honorably. The performance on the second day, in heavy rain and on an unfamiliar grass pitch, deserves special mention. Above-average goalkeeping, disciplined defending, and structured attacking play led to our final success. Beyond the result, the experience gained at such tournaments is far more important for the development of the children,” said head coach Incze Tibor.
