Szuperliga | A várakozás véget ért: első győzelem az élvonalban

Historic moment: FK Csíkszereda has claimed its first-ever win in the Superliga! With goals from Szalay and Dolný, we defeated Universitatea Cluj 2–1.

The roughly two thousand spectators who came to the municipal stadium on Saturday afternoon witnessed a historic moment. Róbert Ilyés’s side played an intelligent, disciplined, and tactically brilliant match, showing almost superhuman defensive organization — and it paid off: FK Csíkszereda’s first victory in Romania’s top division.

The Cluj side, who have never managed to win in Miercurea Ciuc, suffered another defeat on our turf. Although they dominated possession, their control proved sterile, while the red-and-blacks, expecting the visitors to hold more of the ball, defended heroically. As a result, most of Universitatea’s attacks lacked real danger, while the best chances came our way even in the first half. In the 11th minute, Bödő’s low shot toward the right corner was saved superbly by the Lithuanian goalkeeper, who then also had to stretch for Végh’s effort toward the top corner. Two minutes later, Pap denied Drammeh and then Bic in quick succession — the latter chance later flagged offside.

In the 19th minute, Szalay received a brilliant through ball from Anderson, broke free between defenders, and made no mistake: 1–0! In the 40th minute, Pap pulled off another outstanding save to deny Fábry, while El Sawy was booked after colliding with our keeper. One minute before halftime, Čelić could have doubled the lead, but his header from close range hit the post. Just before the break, El Sawy missed a huge chance from two meters, as Pap somehow managed to get a touch on the shot.

At halftime, Ovidiu Sabău replaced two midfielders with two strikers, but it was we who struck again: Veres sent Dolný through, and our forward finished superbly into the far corner — 2–0!

In the 63rd minute, Anderson missed an incredible chance to make it three. Substitute Macalou had a few flashes toward the end, but without real threat. In the 84th minute, Cissé found the net, but VAR ruled it out for offside. Deep into stoppage time, Postolachi headed in from a corner via the post, but it was too late — FK Csíkszereda left the pitch victorious, celebrating this historic win long with the fans.

Head coach Róbert Ilyés finally spoke with visible joy after the match:

“The moment we’ve been waiting for since the start of the season has arrived. We really wanted this win — to make history. It came a bit late, but I’m all the happier that we could repay the supporters’ trust with a strong performance. I’m proud and happy because everything we worked on during the week showed today, especially tactically, with a focus on defense. You could see the fighting spirit in the boys — everyone defended with discipline, both starters and substitutes — they all gave everything for this victory.”

Our next challenge comes after the international break, on October 16 at 20:30, when we host CFR Cluj in the rescheduled Round 5 match.
