Our U16 team earned a confident 2–0 away victory in the first round of the Elite Cup against FC Botoșani. After the match, head coach Burus Bernát shared his assessment.
The coach explained that the team faced a busy schedule, with this being the third consecutive away match in just a few days. – “We didn’t have much time to prepare after the Ploiești game, so we focused mainly on recovery and refining some tactical details. We’re treating this cup competition with maximum commitment and concentration because we want to achieve strong results here as well,” said Burus Bernát.
He added that this time several players who had previously seen less playing time were given the opportunity to start. – “In the first half, our play looked very solid — we were stable and completely controlled the game. In the second half, perhaps due to the comfort of the lead, our rhythm dropped a bit and at times we rushed our play, but the boys managed these moments well and kept the match under control throughout,” the coach explained.
Burus Bernát emphasised that starting the competition with a win was particularly important. – “Congratulations to the boys for earning all three points — it feels great to start the cup this way. There’s not much time to rest, as on Saturday the play-offs continue with the Székely derby in Sepsiszentgyörgy,” concluded the head coach.
