Our U16 team has returned from its training camp in Serbia. Between February 5 and 13, the boys prepared in Vršac, where they also played four friendly matches. A new challenge already awaits them this weekend, as they continue their campaign in the Elite Cup in Galați. Head coach Bernát Burus shared his thoughts on the camp and the lessons learned during the preparation period.
The coach explained that the period leading up to the camp was not an easy one. – The week and a half before the camp was difficult for us, as 80% of the team was affected by the flu, so we travelled to Serbia at a disadvantage, with both physical and tactical aspects to make up for – he said.
He emphasized that the conditions were excellent and that their professional work covered every necessary area. – As last year, we were able to prepare in proper conditions, both on the pitch and in the gym. We also held theoretical sessions, analyzing previous matches, and we managed to organize a team-building evening for the boys, which helped them step out of the routine of the training camp – he detailed.
Burus highlighted the importance of the international matches played during the camp. – It was good to see again how youth teams from neighboring countries differ from us and how we can catch up to them – he stated, adding: – In these types of international matches there is constant pressure from the opponent, space and time become limited, and decisions must be made faster. This was a very important and useful aspect of our camp, as the players could experience firsthand why we demand certain things in daily training and how important it is both to apply pressure and to play under pressure – he stressed.
In summary, the coach evaluated the Serbian camp positively. – We completed a useful and educational training camp, we were able to progress continuously during the matches, and most importantly, we got through this phase of preparation without injuries – he said.
Finally, he thanked the academy for its support. – We thank the academy for providing us with the opportunity to complete such a high-quality training camp – concluded Bernát Burus .
