The jubilee 10th edition of the Székely–Hungarian Youth Tournament, organised in Miercurea Ciuc for U13 boys’ teams, ended with victory for the team from Kecskemét.

The jubilee 10th edition of the Székely–Hungarian Youth Tournament, organised in Miercurea Ciuc for U13 boys’ teams, ended with victory for the team from Kecskemét.

The two-day event took place on Monday and Tuesday at the Burus Csaba Sports Base in Miercurea Ciuc. The tournament was organised by the Consulate General of Hungary in Miercurea Ciuc, the Municipality of Miercurea Ciuc, the Municipality of Csepel, and the host club, FK Csíkszereda. Six teams took part in the competition: FK Csíkszereda, KTE Kecskemét, Marosvásárhelyi 1898 SE, Sepsi OSK, Videoton FCF and Csepel FC USE.

The tournament was played in a round-robin format, meaning that every team faced each of the others.  A total of 15 matches were played over the two days, and KTE Kecskemét finished first, ahead of hosts FK Csíkszereda and Marosvásárhelyi 1898 SE.

At the closing award ceremony, Tajti József, KMAR coordinator, thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the event. First, he highlighted the supporters, family members and friends who “cheered on the teams throughout the two days”, adding that during the 15 matches, they had the chance to support the sporting efforts of more than 90 children.

He also thanked the referees, who, in his words, “did an excellent job even without the help of VAR”, as well as the coaches, who prepared their teams well for the tournament. Tajti József also gave special thanks to the supporters and organisers: the city of Miercurea Ciuc, the Municipality of Csepel, the Consulate General of Hungary in Miercurea Ciuc, and the staff and leaders of FK Csíkszereda, who “did a great deal to provide these excellent conditions”.

The KMAR coordinator said the tournament would remain a memorable experience for the children, as “everyone was happy to step onto such an excellent grass pitch”, and he also congratulated the participating players for having “entertained us well and played truly excellent matches”.
