In the final league match of the calendar year, Burus Bernát’s side hosted leaders FCSB Saturday on the artificial pitch behind Márton Áron High School. Although the visitors were the favourites on paper, the performance on the pitch seemed to contradict that, and in the 31st minute we even won a penalty — but Klein could not outsmart the visitors’ towering goalkeeper. We were handed another opportunity in the 64th minute when Dărășteanu handled the ball as the last defender in front of the box, earning a red card. However, we were unable to take advantage of the numerical superiority; worse, in the 81st minute our defence made a mistake and Avram converted the visitors’ only major chance. Despite creating several scoring opportunities afterwards, we lacked sharpness in front of goal.
Although this was the U16s’ final league match of the year, they will not enter the winter break just yet, as Cup matches await them in the next two weekends. Next Saturday, for example, FC Bacău will visit Csíkszereda.
