The rebuilt running track at Burus Csaba Sports Park was officially inaugurated on Friday, 17 July, in the presence of Korodi Attila, Mayor of Miercurea-Ciuc. The track will once again be available to the public from Monday, 20 July.

As previously announced, the expansion of one of the Sports Park’s training pitches required the public running track to be rebuilt along a new route. The work was carried out at its own expense by Miercurea-Ciuc-based ING Service Ltd, which also undertook to purchase and install the remaining section of rubber surfacing that is not yet in place.

Speaking at the inauguration, FK Csíkszereda president Szondy Zoltán recalled that the idea of creating the Sports Park is linked to former mayor Ráduly Róbert and that cooperation between the club and the municipality has played an important role in operating the facility from the outset. He stressed that the running track is intended primarily for local residents who wish to exercise.

“We created this running track for the residents of the city who want to exercise, particularly amateur and recreational runners. We did not want to wait another six months for the card-based access system to be installed, so the track will be available again from Monday, subject to the regulations displayed at the venue,” Szondy Zoltán said.

The club president explained that a card-based access system is planned to be introduced next spring. Until then, the track may be used during the hours and under the conditions set out in the regulations displayed at the Sports Park.

Szondy Zoltán also expressed his particular gratitude to Buzogány Károly and ING Service Ltd for their contribution.

“Buzogány Károly and ING Service deserve our sincere thanks. Aware of the difficult financial situation currently facing sports clubs, the company carried out the work at its own expense and also undertook to provide the missing rubber surface. FK Csíkszereda and the amateur running community are both extremely grateful for this support,” the club president said.

Mayor Korodi Attila described the reopening of the rebuilt track as the result of community cooperation. He noted that the facility had previously been used by many runners because it provides a pleasant, safe and distinctly sporting environment.

“There are other rubber-surfaced running tracks in the city, but this location is particularly popular because of its pleasant and safe surroundings. I am pleased that, alongside the development of football, FK Csíkszereda has also considered the needs of amateur athletes and created this running track for them,” Korodi Attila said.

The mayor also thanked Buzogány Károly and ING Service Ltd for their contribution. He stressed that other sports clubs and institutions may also use the track for organised activities, but must make prior arrangements with FK Csíkszereda.

Public opening hours are as follows:

• Monday to Friday: 8.00–10.00 am and 4.00–8.00 pm;

• Saturday: 8.00 am–2.00 pm;

• Sunday: closed.

Main conditions of use

The track may only be used during the designated opening hours and at the user’s own risk. Bicycles, scooters, roller skates, skateboards and other vehicles are not permitted. Football boots and studded footwear are also prohibited, and users must not enter the grass football pitches. Bicycles should be left in the designated bicycle racks.

We would particularly like to emphasise that registered athletes, sports organisations, sports clubs, educational institutions and other organisations may use the track for organised activities only on the basis of a prior agreement with FK Csíkszereda. Requests must be submitted in advance to the club’s management.

FK Csíkszereda reserves the right to amend the opening hours or temporarily suspend access during matches, sporting competitions, events or other club activities. The detailed regulations have been displayed at the venue in poster form.
