After four consecutive wins, our Youth League team continued its run with a goalless draw, this time failing to capitalize on its chances against UTA. After the match, head coach Goran Kopunović shared his thoughts:
“Before the match, I emphasized several times to the players that we were facing a very dangerous game, especially because in situations like this I feel and know from experience that, particularly after four consecutive wins – we won four matches in a row against top clubs – there can be a tendency to relax or ease off, thinking this is a winnable game. But that has to be proven on the pitch. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to do that in this match. I wasn’t satisfied with the individual performances, nor with the team’s overall play.
Despite that, we had chances to score, we created several clear opportunities, but we couldn’t convert them. We faced a very determined opponent who fought for every ball, and Arad has always been a very difficult opponent for us.
However, there is still a lot to learn from this match. We will analyze it. I would say there is no problem, as we collected 13 points from five matches, scored nine goals, and conceded only two, one of them from a penalty. I am fully satisfied with the results, I am proud of my players because I know how hard they work, and we are looking ahead.
I often say that every streak comes to an end at some point, and when it does, as it happened for us in this match, there is a lot to learn from it, even from the negatives. We are preparing for the away match against Argeș, there are three rounds left in the championship, we keep working, and the results will come.”
