Our academy teams began the 2026–2027 league season with three victories and one defeat. Our U18 side earned a 2–1 win away to FC Argeș, while the U17s suffered a late defeat in Pitești. In Târgoviște, both our U16 and U15 teams opened their campaigns with convincing, high-scoring victories.

U18

Our U18 team began its Youth League Western Group campaign away to FC Argeș. Goran Kopunović’s side took the lead as early as the 11th minute through Lehel Bódi and held on to their advantage until the closing stages. The hosts equalised through Daniel Sandu in the 84th minute, but our team were not content with a single point: Apor Máthé scored the winning goal in the 91st minute.

“I knew that playing away to Argeș is never easy. I had never managed to win there before, and I also knew that they had a good team who would play aggressively. We prepared for that while also playing our own game. I was very pleased with the boys and congratulated them. At the same time, I always say that this was only the opening round and nothing has been achieved yet. We will remain humble, continue to trust in hard work and prepare for our next match,” head coach Goran Kopunović said.

Our U17 team also made a strong start to their match in Pitești. Zalán Fazakas opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, allowing our side to head into the break with a 1–0 lead. The score remained unchanged until the 79th minute, when Eduard Petruț Tudoran equalised. Substitute Yanis Ștefan Dobre then decided the match in the hosts’ favour in the third minute of stoppage time.

U16

Our U16 team made a somewhat sluggish start in the intense heat in Târgoviște, but nevertheless dominated proceedings throughout the match. Goals from Szabolcs Boér and Darius Cornel Matei gave us a two-goal lead by half-time. Boér scored twice more after the break to complete his hat-trick, while Milán Debrenti netted our fifth goal. The hosts pulled two goals back, but our victory was never in danger.

“We played the match in extremely hot conditions, which had an impact on our game at the beginning, as we looked rather sluggish. At the same time, it was clear that we were dominating possession and controlling the play. We created chances and kept the match under control, although we only managed to take the lead towards the end of the first half. Fortunately, the second goal followed soon afterwards. We regrouped during the break and played with great energy. It was good to see the same momentum from the boys that we had already witnessed in our pre-season friendlies. We scored three more goals and also missed a penalty, so based on the overall picture of the match, our victory was fully deserved. The build-up to the two goals we conceded was frustrating because both situations could have been avoided, but our victory was not in danger for a single second. I am pleased with the good start and the number of goals, and we hope this momentum will carry us a long way,” head coach Zoltán Fogarasi said.

Our U15 side made their debut with dynamic, chance-filled football and clinical finishing. They were already 3–0 ahead at half-time before eventually securing a 6–1 victory.

“The trip to Târgoviște marked the beginning of a new chapter in the footballing careers of this age group. From this point on, we hope that the players will be able to develop, improve and gain valuable experience in the Elite League competitions over the next four years. We managed to make a good start to the league and launch our campaign with a convincing victory. The team produced dynamic football, created numerous chances and, on this occasion, combined that with efficient finishing. Of course, we still have plenty of work ahead of us, both tactically and physically, but we work week after week to help the boys reach an increasingly better level and ensure that they can produce their best form in the Saturday matches. We hope this victory will provide a good foundation for next week’s work and boost the team’s motivation, allowing us to prepare with maximum intensity for our next challenge against Petrolul at the weekend. Congratulations to the boys; it was a job well done, but we must continue to progress step by step and prepare with complete commitment for our next task,” head coach Bernát Burus concluded.

Pre-Academy: Our youngsters in action in Huși

Our pre-academy teams played friendly matches away to Hușana Huși. Our U14 side, which featured U13 players on this occasion, suffered a 5–0 defeat, while the U13 fixture, for which we fielded U12 players, ended in a 5–1 victory for the hosts. Petru Blagu scored our goal in the latter match.
