Our Women’s Super League team played another pre-season friendly, with Péter Kollár’s side defeating our first league opponents, Gloria Bistrița, 1–0 in Sovata. The match was decided by a stunning 28-metre strike from Anna Ezer late in the game.

Our Women’s Super League team played another pre-season friendly, with Péter Kollár’s side defeating our first league opponents, Gloria Bistrița, 1–0 in Sovata. The match was decided by a stunning 28-metre strike from Anna Ezer late in the game.

Head coach Péter Kollár expected a difficult encounter, and his prediction proved correct, as – in his words – our team invariably plays fiercely contested matches against Gloria Bistrița.

“We played very disciplined, tactical football in the opening 15 minutes and won the ball in good areas, but we were unable to convert our opportunities. After that, the game became more balanced and our opponents were able to push further forward,” our head coach explained.

The contest remained evenly matched in the second half, but our team began to dominate from the 65th minute onwards. According to Péter Kollár, inaccuracies repeatedly crept into the final pass or finish until Anna Ezer scored a spectacular goal from 28 metres in the 80th minute to decide the match.

“The girls put a tremendous amount of work into the game, even though they had another day with two training sessions this week. I believe that if we become a little more aggressive in midfield and sharper in the opposition half, we can be successful. Once again, I was pleased with our desire to win and our attitude today,” Péter Kollár concluded.

The new Women’s Super League season begins in two weeks’ time, on the weekend of 22–23 August. Our team will visit Gloria Bistrița in the opening round of the regular season.
