We secured a confident 4–1 home victory against Politehnica Timișoara in Round 5 of the Women’s Superleague championship play-offs. We controlled the match throughout and turned our dominance into goals in the second half.
On a chilly spring afternoon, we hosted the Banat side at the Burus Csaba Sportpark. Injured players Herczeg Andrea, Nyéki Anna, Szőke Eszter and Balázs Eszter were once again unavailable.

From the opening minutes we took the initiative, with our opponents struggling to cross the halfway line. Porter and Vlădulescu both came close to opening the scoring, but our dominance did not immediately translate into goals. In the 34th minute, however, the visitors took the lead after a defensive lapse: following a run down the right by Șepețan, Laura Rus finished from close range (0–1).
Our response was immediate. After the restart, Balázs released Vlădulescu on the left, who unselfishly set up Porter, and the American forward fired into the top left corner (1–1).
We regained control after the break. In the 51st minute, Vlădulescu finished a move down the left with a strike into the far corner (2–1), and in the 62nd minute Nombot Annabelle Natsi extended the lead with a powerful shot from 20 metres into the top left corner (3–1). In the 75th minute, after a corner by Rosenblatt, Geréd’s header was saved by Roșu, but the rebound deflected off Jivan into the net to make it 4–1.

After the match, head coach Szeitl Szilvia highlighted the team’s mentality and dominance.
– We started the match with the right mindset and created many chances, but unfortunately the ball wouldn’t cross the goal line. We were close to taking the lead, but conceded from a defensive mistake. The team’s strength was shown again by the fact that we equalised immediately after kick-off. We dominated the entire match and imposed our will. It was only a matter of time before the goals came. We scored four times and confidently kept the three points at home – she said.
She particularly praised the second-half performance.
– Congratulations to the team, I’m very proud of them, especially for the second half. The first half was also good, we just lacked efficiency. The margin could have been even bigger, but these four goals will give us confidence. From tomorrow, we focus on the cup match. Hats off to the girls – she added.
The coach also thanked the supporters.
– We thank the fans who came out to support us. They created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the match – she concluded.
In the next play-off round, on Saturday, April 4 at 12:00, we travel to Ovidiu to face Farul Constanța. In the Romanian Cup, on Wednesday, April 1 at 17:00, we host Unirea Alba Iulia at the Burus Csaba Sportpark.
