Our U16 team faced the age-group side of the Hagi Academy last weekend. Although the final result did not favour us, the match brought many important lessons.

On Saturday, the team coached by Bernát Burus travelled to Ovidiu, to the training center of the Gheorghe Hagi Academy, to play the fixture scheduled in the Elite League play-off against Farul. The head coach evaluated the match as follows:

“We knew it would not be an easy match, and we prepared throughout the week with this in mind. We tried to build our defensive structure on solid foundations and give the opponent as little space and as few opportunities as possible to express themselves. Tactically, I can say that the boys executed correctly and with discipline everything we had prepared and expected from them, but technically it is very difficult to play against a team of this level without mistakes slipping in somewhere.

Our opponents made the most of their chances and converted the situations they created with ease. In the second half our performance improved, we managed to put more pressure on them and earned a penalty, which unfortunately we missed. Afterwards we managed to pull one back, and at 3–1 we even had chances to get closer to 3–2, but the opponents were once again ruthless in front of goal, so the match ended 4–1.

There was no doubt about which team was better today. It was a match full of lessons, where we faced tactical elements we had not encountered this season. We keep working, fix the mistakes and prepare for the next challenges.”
