Our U15 team played a goalless draw in the weekend round away at Iași against Poli. Head coach Fogarasi Zoltán summed up the match:

Kispad | Fogarasi Zoltán | U15 | Poli Iași–FK 0–0

“We looked forward to the round’s top clash, as we visited the league leaders, Poli Iași. We knew we would face a very organized, physically strong team, with intelligent players in every position.

According to our game plan, we started with high pressing in a 4–4–2 system, putting pressure on their three central defenders. This prevented them from building up play and forced them into long balls and pressured clearances. We won almost all of those long balls, though the second balls often went to them.
The first half was mostly a midfield battle with few real threats on goal. We had several promising attacks and two dangerous long-range shots, but not many big chances – and the same applied to our opponents.

In the second half, thanks to our high pressing, we won many balls in the opponent’s half, which allowed us to create more opportunities. We took numerous corners, almost all of which posed danger to their goal. The home side relied more on counterattacks and in the final minutes created two or three big chances, but our goalkeeper, in excellent form, denied them all.

Overall, it was a hard-fought contest between two very well-prepared teams, with few chances, so the draw can be considered a fair result.

I am particularly pleased that this was our third consecutive match without conceding, showing the progress and effectiveness of our team defending. I am proud of the boys, because they responded well to such a big challenge. Matches like this serve the children’s development the most. Both the staff and the players put in a lot of work week by week to ensure progress is continuous and visible on the pitch. With this valuable point, we have taken another step toward our goals, and we look forward to the challenges of the coming weeks.”
