Our U16 team defeated the corresponding junior squad of FC Botoșani by three goals in the round played on Saturday at home. After the match, head coach Bernát Burus provided his assessment of the game.
According to the coach, the opponents mainly played with a defensive setup, which can complicate the game if there is not enough concentration at the back. He mentioned that at halftime they managed to correct the mistakes, so in the second half the defense became more stable, and in attack, they created numerous opportunities.
“We faced again a match in which our opponents set up in two lines trying to survive as long as possible and not concede a goal. Such matches can become particularly complicated if we do not concentrate properly in defense and give the opponent’s team the chance to turn one or two situations into goals,” said Bernát Burus.
He added that he is pleased to see that, compared to last season, the team has made significant progress in creating chances and in finishing.
“After the crosses and shots following the wing drills we practiced this week, we managed to create a lot of opportunities, but at the same time we missed many of them, or the ball hit the post and did not go in,” the coach pointed out.
In conclusion, he highlighted that ball possession has improved, and the players are increasingly thinking collectively on the pitch.
“Congratulations to the boys, we secured the three points that bring us closer to our main goal, but to achieve it, we must stay grounded and continue the modest, humble, and ambitious work that they have already made us accustomed to,” Bernát Burus concluded his assessment.
