Perhaps the most important home match of our debut SuperLiga season is coming: we will host Unirea Slobozia in a crucial clash in the fight to avoid relegation.

A victory on Saturday afternoon would allow us to extend our current four-point advantage over the Ialomița side, while also keeping us at the top of the group of teams with 22–23 points before the round. This would mean maintaining 5th place in the play-out and, under favorable circumstances, even climbing to 4th place (10th overall).

We know our current opponent well, although we do not look back fondly on the heavy away defeat suffered against them in the regular season. However, we remember with satisfaction our 2–1 home victory in November.

In terms of current form, we have collected seven points from four matches since the start of the play-out: two away wins in Galați and Clinceni against Metaloglobus, a home draw against Farul, and an away defeat to Petrolul. It is also a positive that three of our remaining matches will be played at home and only two away. Slobozia has collected six points in the play-out, beating Oțelul at home and Farul away, but losing at home to Petrolul and away to Botoșani.

Looking at the imaginary standings based on matches played in 2026, FK Csíkszereda would be in 4th place among the 16 SuperLiga teams with 23 points, just three points behind third-placed Craiova. Among play-out teams, we still lead this table, one point ahead of FCSB.

At the pre-match press conference, head coach Ilyés Róbert emphasized the importance of the game: “It is a very important match, maybe even our most important one this Saturday afternoon, as both teams’ positions show that everyone wants to escape this dangerous relegation zone. For us, it is an opportunity to move away from Slobozia, and I believe it will be our most important match.”

He also highlighted the role of the supporters: “We will need them a lot. Maybe I haven’t emphasized this enough before, but since this is such a key match, we want as many fans as possible to come to the stadium. I want the players to feel the weight of this game and the support they always receive. I ask our supporters to come in large numbers, because in these difficult moments their support is crucial to securing the three points.”

Regarding the squad, he added: “We have a few injured players, and a virus has gone through the dressing room, so only on Saturday morning will we decide who will be in the squad and who can play. I want to see a united, fighting, well-organized team, because we will face a very compact opponent that defends deep. The players’ mentality and patience will be key to finding the chances to score.”

Striker Jozef Dolný has returned to fitness after a long absence: “I feel good, getting better week by week. That difficult period is behind me, and I am looking forward. I’m happy to return to the team and I’m just waiting for my first minutes on the pitch.”

It was not easy for him to stay on the sidelines: “It was very hard, because as a player it’s extremely difficult to be out due to injury and support the team only from the outside. I tried to give my best, supporting my teammates in the dressing room. Now I’m happy to be back and very grateful to the guys for standing by me.”

Defensive midfielder Végh Bence also stressed the importance of the match: “It will be a very important game, preparation is going as usual, and we have only one goal: to keep the three points at home.”

On defending, he said: “The most important thing is to finish the match without conceding, and I’m sure we will score.”

He also mentioned the fans: “We really need them, but this is already something we are used to, because we always have many spectators at our matches, and we are very grateful for that.”

The match, played in Round 5 of the SuperLiga play-out, will take place on Saturday at 14:30 at the Municipal Stadium and will be broadcast on Digisport 1 and Prima Sport 1. However, it is worth attending in person not only to support the team but also because of the raffle: three ticket buyers and three season ticket holders present at the match can win brand-new FK hoodies.

Go FK, go Miercurea Ciuc, go Székely Land!
